About the Author
Jennessa Terraccino has an M.A. in theological studies and an advanced apostolic catechetical diploma from the Christendom College graduate school. She also holds a certificate in youth ministry accredited by Franciscan University of Steubenville. Jennessa served as youth director in the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia. She speaks at conferences and retreats throughout the U.S., including youth groups, Pure Fashion, Seton School, and Boston University. Her articles have appeared in a variety of Catholic publications; this is her first book. Jennessa is a wife and mother and currently resides in New England.

Accessible and smart guidance for young women that listens to the higher calling from Christ

The Princess Guide uses fairy tales as jumping off points for theological reflection on various aspects of growing up and life for young women.
It is kind and wise, like a loving and well-versed older sister guiding a younger sister. The princess guide does not condescend to young women by pouring on flattery. Instead, it uses familiar stories to bid them hear their higher calling that comes from God alone.
I will say the author sometimes paints with broad brush strokes, perhaps overlooking some nuance, particularly in the section on the differences between men and women. Nevertheless, the heart is in the right place and the guidance offered to young readers is invaluable.
It discusses the value of work, fear, true beauty, and challenges cultural assumptions on artificial contraception and cohabitation. Terraccino addresses women as women in all their uniqueness and value while drawing on Scripture, the Church Fathers, the Catechism, and personal experience. Rare is the book that draws on such wide theological resources within the Church and presents them in so accessible a way, especially for this audience. Too often, the rich teachings and history of the Church lay buried. Terraccino wonderfully and practically brings them too light.
God gave all women and men a royal calling; all persons are called to imitate Christ in his three-fold office of priest, prophet and king. Read this book and let Terraccino show you how to live the royal vocation in the here and now.

Not just for young adult - we can all learn from this book

I am was amazed at the many lessons princesses can teach us about friendship, modesty, beauty, fear, soul mates - and all topped with fantastic shoe analogies! This book is one for your book shelf - that you can share with your mother, teenage daughter, and of course, any young adult woman in your life. I also think there is a lot men can learn from it as well - I mean the more you know about how a woman thinks the better off you'll be in entering into relationship with them!! Jennessa is a gifted writer. The book flowed, made me laugh, ponder and dust off all my princess movies. A perfect before or after read for the new Cinderella Movie !!

The author draws Scripture into these familiar tales, helping the reader to a deeper understanding of Christian royalty and happily ever after. Mrs. Terraccino gives dignity to every vocation, married or otherwise. Her insights and personal stories lend credibility and encouragement to all of us as we search for true love.
