Phenomenal personal journey, presents science on music for PTSD

Bill has an incredible story about his own journey with PTSD: music is what healed him. I've had the good fortune of experiencing his music therapy/healing at Harmony Hill Retreat Center in Union, WA, --- it's quite profound and mystical. This book is a great fast read and download on the science of percussion/music for PTSD for anyone that doubts the efficacy or needs evidence to support the use of music as a modality.

While I haven't had the opportunity to try Rhythm Medicine itself reading this book.certainly made me believe that it is something I will explore and possibly use to help alleviate stress in my life. I appreciated the information in this book which tells how we have the power through meditation and rhythm to help heal ourselves. I believe in the power of positive thinking and can see where it also plays a big part in healing.

Bridges the gap.

This is an essential book by Faulkner, and very convenient by combining three separate volumes into one in this edition. I've finished the Pyramid Texts, Book of the Dead, and the Mythical Origin of the Egyptian Temple by E.A.E. Reymond, which is a cosmogonical overview of the Edfu temple inscriptions. This much more follows the form of the Pyramid Text writing style, and fills in many gaps about their religion. Any Egyptologist would benefit from the read, which will take a while.

Coffin Texts

This review is for the 1977-1978 editions.

This book is a direct translation into English of all of the Middle Kingdom Coffin Texts. These are the religious writings placed in tombs to aid the dead's entry and existence in the afterlife, although a small number contain mythical stories. For a student of Egyptology, the Coffin Texts are an important source. Faulkner is conscientious, providing notes to explain corrupted, doubtful, and untranslatable text.

One thing must be kept in mind: this book is not intended for beginners. There is no commentary for the spells, and little explanation for the many names, allusions, and references, which would have made this work very much longer. If you do not have a broad knowledge of Egyptian religion and myth, most of this material will be confusing.

Other than a commentary, the only feature which would make this book more complete would be a copy of the main diagram from the Book of Two Ways.

There are not words to praise late Dr. Faulkner for the impressive task he had undetook at translating the 7 volumes of the "editio princeps" of the valuable Ancient Egyptian Coffin Texts, like he had already done with the Pyramid Texts in 1969. Anybody interested in ancient Egyptian religion and funerary literature must own a copy of this edition, whether under this "omnibus edition, 3 vols. in 1", or the extended edition in 3 vols. MOreover, a new reprint of the same is badly in need for it is very difficulto to find it at hand. I used this book in my Domestic Violence class and when I first got it I was like okay I know enough about Domestic Violence. However this book is really helpful in teaching about Domestic Violence all over the world. I liked learning new terms like Dowry. I also liked how it was easy to read and really made it clear about the challenges victims face. I liked that it looked in to more areas then just female victims or children. This book made my class very informative.

This book has so much writing and the page corners ...

This book has so much writing and the page corners are all turned it was not worth paying as much as I did. If I did not need the book I would have returned it, after paying extra for the book to get here it did come quickly. I will not wait till the last minute next time. My fault that I am stuck with this book.
